"All of us contains a divine, expressive spark, a creative candle intended to light our path and that of our fellows. We are shiny, not tarnished; large, not small; beautiful, not damaged--although we may be ignorant of our grace, power, and dignity. Julia Cameron ."
What does it mean to be on a spiritual journey? It might be that you are off meditating at monasteries, doing contemplative prayer, studying and meditating an hour a day, in a study group or class about St. Ignatius of Loyola, or studying in a program to be a spiritual director.
I’m practicing all of those, and it is a real commitment to remain focused. Yet, the benefits are extraordinary. My commitment has paid off, and I feel an intense growth in all dimensions of my life. And so that is why I made the decision to up the ante even more.
I'm in intensive training at the YMCA in preparation to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Today, my workout was nearly 4 hours- weight-lifting, boxing, treadmill, and swimming. Other days, I'm playing pickleball until I drop!!! I have never felt more alive, energized, and so full of joy.
This lifestyle is certainly not for everyone, but I challenge you to dig deeply within yourself. What makes your heart sing? What gives you fulfillment or resonates with your life’s goals? Once you discover the answers, go out and make your life the best it can be!!!!
I'm teaching a brand new class I've created on processing grief through art. I hope you can join me!

My husband passed away a few months ago after a seven-year battle with cancer. It was a brutal journal, but I have committed myself to healing- taking long walks outside, talking to God, journaling, lots of solitude, meditating, talking to my spiritual director, watching TED talks on grief, and creating oodles of art. Here is some of my work thus far.
I'm a journal junkie, so I've recently begun posting YouTube videos of some of my 200 art journals.
Monthly journals that contain my morning pages, planners, ephemera, quotes, calendars, TO DO lists
Art Journals
Themed Journals- spiritual Journals, gratitude journals, camping journals, travel journals
Altered Book Journals
Junk Journals
DIY Journals made from cardboard, assorted papers
Three-ring Notebook Journals
Grandchildren Journals- scrapbooking plus their own artwork
