About Me

While the content (below) still describes me well, I've recently undergone a massive transition.  My husband of nearly 50 years passed away in 2024 after a seven-year battle with cancer.  I've learned great compassion, patience, love, and grief lessons.  I've completed an art journal about grief and taught a class,  and I realize this new dimension of my journey will be both challenging and rewarding.

I'm at a great place in my life because  I have time to give back to others.  I teach undergraduate, self-help, and art journaling classes- all part-time- as well as doing some professional speaking gigs.  I volunteer as an adult Sunday school teacher as well as teaching stress management to Cardiac Rehab patients at a nearby hospital.  I love helping people grow and learn about themselves!

In the frigid Iowa winters, I write, cook, do art, read, and watch the eagles soar over the river.  In the summer, I glamp* (glamour + camp), kayak, become a motorcycle mamma,  and garden. I'm a "River Rat" (a person who lives on a river), and the owner/operator of a " Little Free Library."

My greatest loves are God, my family, my grandchildren, and all the wonderful people I'm honored to call family, friends, and colleagues.
